Andean Dream Quinoa Products - The History

Andean Dream was founded by Ingrid Hirstin Lazcano CEO, a Los Angeles businesswoman, and her husband Fernando Lazcano Dunn, a former Bolivian career diplomat. Ingrid learned of the benefits of quinoa first-hand, while working on a public relations campaign in 2005 for a research scientist and author who specializes in improving health through eating alkaline-rich foods like quinoa. Intrigued, she started eating the grain on a regular basis and noticed a significant increase in energy and a true feeling of wellbeing. This sparked her desire to create a line of products for U.S. consumers to share with them the benefits of this unique Superfood.

In 2006 Ingrid traveled to Bolivia, with Fernando's help who was serving as Consul General of Bolivia in Los Angeles, to locate the best quinoa and identify the best suppliers to help her pursue this venture. High in the Bolivian Andes she found quinoa real (royal quinoa in English), which is prized over other quinoa varieties for its high protein and amino acid content, and she established business relationships with Andean Valley, Bolivia’s largest exporter of organic royal quinoa, and La Francesa, a company with three generations of experience manufacturing cookies.
